I was pretty shocked to find out that fellow horror fan D$ had never heard of, or even seen "The Gate" which features a very, very young Stephen Dorff fighting off demons from hell.
The premise is pretty simple, parents leave, big sister has a party, and Dorff and his friend accidentally open up the gate to hell in their own backyard, chaos ensues. But what surprises me is unlike most horror movies, none have really attempted to rip this one off, or remake it, yet. Which is nice, because this, to me at least, is a classic 80's horror movie that I remember watching all the time as a kid. It's one of those horror movies that feature kids, but what takes place in it is pretty scary and realistic. Kids acting and talking like kids should. Much like The Monster Squad.
